Hackmatack Playhouse is turning 40!

Dear Friends,

As we tie up the loose ends of our 2010 season, we begin to plan for the summer of 2011 - our 40th year!

It was 40 years ago this winter that my Dad and I - and many other volunteers - cleaned out the hay, cemented the floor, installed the seats and built the stage that would become the Hackmatack Playhouse.

The mission was to create a summer home for high caliber, live theater entertainment and education in a relaxed country setting. Then, as now, we did not rely on government and foundation monies, but rather on the generosity and support of patrons and local business.

If you have spent a summer evening laughing, singing and enjoying a Hackmatack production, would you consider being among the first to help us celebrate our 40th birthday by giving a donation at this time?

We are in need. Our original lighting system consisted of tin can stage lights (you can see some of them still used above the seats). Your donation of $40 would help us rewire, clean and relamp a new, modern lighting system. A $400 donation will let us install hot water in the bathrooms (wouldn't that be civil!). Five, $4000 donations would allow us to replace the clapboard and paint the chipping and peeling barn (much needed).

Many folks who love the rustic and endearing charm of Hackmatack have asked us not to change a thing - but I'm sure these and other updates would be much appreciated - and we promise never to change our style!

If you choose to donate on-line, our agent has agreed only to take the necessary credit card processing fees, or you may choose to send a check to the address below to avoid fees altogether. All donations are of great value. On-line donations may be received by visiting our secure donations page.

All donors will receive a gift and our sincere thanks.

40th birthday donation suggestions:
$40, $400, $4,000 - or any other amount is greatly appreciated.
